Trout in the classroom programs have been in existence across the country for more than 20 years.  In 1977 TIC was started in New York.  Since its inception TIC has grown from four classrooms to more than 200.

In 2004 Trout Unlimited  spread across the United States and began in North Carolin in 2006 when Principal Chuck Pressley, of Hendersonville Middle School and a member of Pisgah Chapter of Trout Unlimited saw the opportunity to provide a "hands on learning" opportunity for Middle School Students of Henderson County.  Since this beginning, programs have been started in Polk and Transylvania Counties as well.  Trout in the Classroom is currently in the following schools:  Apple Valley Middle, Hendersonville Middle. Rugby Middle, Brevard Middle and Polk Middle.

Our program is up and running with live trout in each of the middle schools.
